Microsoft, OpenAI, and Google make premium AI features free — programming, deep analysis, and voice communication

The tech giants have enhanced voice communication, deep analysis, and programming features in their latest updates. These changes have impacted Copilot Pro, ChatGPT, and Gemini Code Assist, each with its own unique aspects. Let’s take a closer look at what these companies have prepared for users.
Microsoft's Copilot Pro has made premium features free and unlimited for everyone. Specifically, Copilot Voice (natural voice communication with AI) and Copilot Think Deeper (understanding complex issues and analyzing situations in more detail) are now available. Both functions are based on OpenAI GPT-4o. However, during peak times, priority access will be reserved for Copilot subscribers. The opening of Copilot Pro’s premium features is a direct challenge to OpenAI. Similar features in ChatGPT are available only to Plus subscribers for $20 per month. Meanwhile, OpenAI is also making progress—the company offers a free Advanced Voice Mode for voice interactions in ChatGPT, but with some limitations. This feature, based on the GPT-4o mini, allows for natural voice conversations.
However, there's a catch: OpenAI has set limits—when a user reaches the limit, the chat will automatically end. Additionally, the voice mode now supports five new voices, improving the overall speed of conversation and accents in supported foreign languages. While OpenAI has expanded access to this technology, it hasn't been as generous as Microsoft. Meanwhile, Google has a significant update for developers. Gemini Code Assist is now free for everyone, though it was previously a paid corporate product. The company allows up to 180,000 code requests per month, which is quite generous, but may not be enough for those who code extensively.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai states that their request limit is 90 times higher than that of competitors. For example, Microsoft has set a limit of 2,000 requests per month for GitHub Copilot. Gemini Code Assist integrates with popular IDEs like Visual Studio and Firebase, using the powerful Gemini 2.0 language model for code analysis.
